Lillooet to Okanagan Lake via Walmart - Ellison Provincial Park

After another pretty chilly evening we headed off early to get to Okanagan Lake. After a quick pit stop at Kamloops Lake viewpoint for some (very) windy snaps we got to Walmart in Vernon. This was very exciting. Not only because we were getting food, but we had also taken the incredibly wise decision to stock up on some much warmer clothes. The weather in Banff at the moment is showing lows of -9 so we thought it wise to get some gloves, hats, big socks and a coat/hoody. Once we’re out and about it’s fine, but evenings/mornings in the camper are a little chilly, and it’s only going to get colder.

After a highly successful trip we headed to the next camping spot at Ellison Provincial Park where we were greeted by Santa Claus (the ranger working there looked really like Santa). It’s an absolutely beautiful spot with some great hiking trails and viewpoints across the massive Okanagan Lake. It also had a nature trail with signs about the animals in the forest which, much to Amelia’s delight, included bears, spiders and snakes.

With our new snuggly acquisitions from Walmart keeping us slightly more cosy we had a not awful night sleep and we’re off to the Halcyon hot springs at Nakusp tomorrow.
